Process Features

Wet sulfuric acid systems are designed for the treatment and recovery of sulfur-containing industrial gases containing H₂S, SO₂, CS₂, COS, mercaptans (R-SH), and other sulfur compounds. Hunan Chenwei provides process equipment, system engineering support, and related components for wet sulfuric acid and sulfur-containing gas treatment applications according to the specific feed-gas composition, operating conditions, and project requirements. The system can be configured for efficient recovery and utilization of heat generated during sulfur oxidation and conversion. Depending on the project configuration, water/steam systems or other suitable heat-transfer media can be used for heat recovery. The recovered heat can be utilized to generate high-quality steam for process use, heating, or power-generation applications. For projects with more stringent treated-gas emission requirements, additional tail-gas treatment and acid-mist-control equipment can be incorporated into the overall system configuration. Under suitable design and operating conditions, and where the corresponding polishing equipment is included, treated-gas SO₂ concentrations can be controlled below approximately 35 mg/Nm³ and sulfuric acid mist concentrations below approximately 5 mg/Nm³, subject to feed-gas composition, operating conditions, and the applicable project specifications.

  1. High sulfur recovery efficiency can be achieved through appropriate process configuration and operating control. Under suitable operating conditions, overall sulfur recovery efficiency can exceed 99%, while treated-gas SO₂ emissions can be controlled in accordance with applicable project and environmental requirements.
  1. The process can recover commercial-grade sulfuric acid with concentrations above 97% under suitable feed-gas, condensation, and operating conditions.
  1. The process is designed for efficient recovery and utilization of sulfur resources and can minimize the generation of secondary waste streams compared with conventional sulfur-containing gas disposal methods, depending on the overall system configuration.
  1. A significant portion of the heat released during sulfur oxidation and conversion can be recovered and utilized. Depending on the project design, the recovered heat can be used to generate high-quality steam for process heating, utility use, or power-generation applications.
  1. A centralized DCS control system can be incorporated to monitor key operating parameters, equipment status, temperature, pressure, flow, and other process variables, supporting a high level of automation and stable system operation.
  1. The system can be configured with a wide operating range to accommodate variations in gas flow, sulfur concentration, feed-gas composition, and production load, depending on the project design and equipment configuration.
  1. The system is applicable to a wide range of sulfur-containing industrial gases, including streams containing H₂S, SO₂, CS₂, COS, mercaptans (R-SH), and other sulfur compounds. Equipment and material selection can be adapted according to the specific gas composition and operating conditions.
