Depending on the process design, it is used to remove heat from and cool the process stream. The exact installation position, process medium, flow arrangement, thermal duty, and connection parameters are determined by the project documentation.
According to the current technical specification, the heat exchanger shell is manufactured from 304H stainless steel, while the tube headers are made from TP304H stainless steel. The heat-transfer tubes are also manufactured from TP304H and have a specified size of Ø33.4 × 3.38 mm.
A ceramic protective coating may be applied to welded joints in the tube-bend areas to reduce the effects of the process medium on these highly stressed sections of the equipment.
Overall dimensions, number of tubes, tube arrangement, header design, welding configuration, and cooling parameters are calculated according to the process gas temperature, pressure, composition, thermal load, and the requirements of the specific WSA plant.
