The Tubular Mist Eliminator is installed in the tube section of the WSA condenser and is designed to reduce the carryover of sulfuric acid droplets with the process gas stream.
During condenser operation, sulfuric acid vapor condenses on the inner surfaces of the vertical glass tubes. Acid droplets and fine sulfuric acid mist are captured by the mesh element, helping reduce acid carryover into downstream gas lines and protecting downstream equipment.
The working element consists of a mesh structure made from chemically resistant fluoroelastomer monofilament. As the process gas passes through the mesh, fine droplets contact the fibers, coalesce into larger droplets, and drain back into the acid collection system.
According to the current technical specification, the monofilament diameter is approximately 0.25–0.30 mm. The design operating temperature is up to 200°C, with a maximum service temperature of up to 250°C. These values should be confirmed against the drawing or technical specification for the specific product configuration.
Material grade, mesh density, dimensions, and demister configuration are selected according to the process gas composition, sulfuric acid concentration, operating temperature, and WSA plant capacity.
