WSA Sulfuric Acid Circulation Tank (SB33152-1)

The WSA sulfuric acid circulation tank is designed for the mixing and circulation of sulfuric acid within the WSA process system. Sulfuric acid condensed in the glass tubes of the WSA condenser enters the tank at a temperature of approximately 245°C and is mixed with sulfuric acid already present in the tank at approximately 40°C. After mixing, the acid temperature is approximately 60°C.

Description

The WSA Sulfuric Acid Circulation Tank (SB33152-1) is an integral part of the Wet Gas Sulfuric Acid (WSA) process system.

Sulfuric acid condensed in the glass tubes of the WSA condenser flows through the acid discharge piping into the circulation tank. The incoming acid temperature is approximately 245°C. Inside the tank, it is mixed with circulating sulfuric acid at approximately 40°C, resulting in a mixed acid temperature of about 60°C.

The sulfuric acid is then pumped to the sulfuric acid cooler, where its temperature is reduced to approximately 40°C. After cooling, part of the acid is directed to an intermediate storage tank, while the remaining acid is returned to the circulation tank for continued circulation.

Main Functions:

Receiving condensed sulfuric acid from the WSA condenser
Mixing sulfuric acid streams
Stabilizing acid temperature
Maintaining sulfuric acid circulation
Supplying acid for subsequent cooling and storage
