The coated top cover is a key component of the upper section of the WSA condenser shell.
During the Wet Gas Sulfuric Acid (WSA) process, the inner surface of the top cover is exposed to wet process gas, sulfuric acid vapor, and acidic condensate. A chemically resistant fluoropolymer coating is therefore applied to protect the underlying metal structure.
The coating forms a continuous, smooth protective barrier that minimizes direct contact between the metal surface and the aggressive acidic environment, reducing corrosion risk and helping ensure reliable long-term operation of the condenser top section.
According to the current technical specification, the coating thickness is approximately 0.8 mm and the allowable operating temperature is up to 150°C. These values should be confirmed against the drawing or technical specification for the specific product configuration.
The coating grade, material manufacturer, application process, coating thickness, and temperature rating are selected according to the project documentation and operating conditions of the specific WSA system.
